The Nuclear Taboo

January 26 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Our second external speaker of the semester will be Lewis Martin, who’ll be speaking about the Nuclear Taboo. A second year student within PPL, Lewis will be talking about nuclear weaponry – what it can do, why we are afraid to talk about it, and why it is imperative that we do.

What are nuclear weapons, why don’t we use them and, ultimately, do they make us safe? These are questions that have been answered in numerous different ways by different theorists since their first use in 1945. Lewis hopes to demonstrate what the theories surround these questions are and, hopefully, help you find some answers.

This event comes with a content warning for nuclear weapons and nuclear war. We advise attendees to use their own discretion before attending this session.

All are welcome to attend this event, and as with all of our Friday events, will be followed by a social in the campus bar. We hope to see you there!
